Elia is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is affiliated with the Center for Demography and Ecology and the Center for the Demography of Health and Aging. His research interests evolve around social stratification, gender and sexuality. Particularly, he currently investigates inequalities in higher education and family formation among sexual- and gender-minority (SGM) populations.
Before coming to the US, Elia completed a Bachelor’s in International Economics, Management and Finance and a Master’s in Economic and Social Sciences at Bocconi University, Milan (Italy). He joined the Dondena Center for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policy, working on academic research about social demography and population health.
Together with Eric Grodsky, he is working on a project on education and the social stratification of pain at midlife.
