Hyeyun Jeong is a first-year PhD student in Sociology and Population Studies Predoctoral Trainee at the University of Minnesota. Jeong's research interests lie in the area of inequality, stratification, and social mobility. She is particularly interested in examining the transmission of inequalities across generations, the effects of early life experience on later life outcomes, and accumulation of advantages and disadvantages throughout individual’s life course. Jeong completed a Master of Science in Sociology at the University of Oxford, UK and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and German Studies at Ewha Womans University, South Korea. Before joining the University of Minnesota in 2022, she worked in the public research sector in South Korea focusing on labour market inequalities and public policies. Jeong’s current research examines the effects of intergenerational social mobility on later-life health conditions using the U.S. High School and Beyond data (1980-2021).
